Memory

STAGE CONCERT FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILY AUDIENCES

When he was 12 years old, Edward Elgar (1857-1934) wrote some songs to accompany a play he was going to perform with the rest of the children in his family.
He wrote down the songs in a sketchbook and, forty years later, recovered those sketches to create his two orchestral suites.
That is why he numbered them as opus 1 a/b, in memory of those first creations that survived time.
In the show, in which besides the music (piano, string quartet or orchestra), a circus artist (Edward) and an actress (radio announcer) participate, a mature Edward, with the weariness and worries of an adult, relives moments of his childhood through the drawings, toys, childhood treasures and compositions he finds among his old belongings.
His grandmother, who is losing her memory, helps Edward to recover his memories, through poetry.
Games, dreams, emotions that will make him rediscover the brightness and sparkle of that time through a real magic wand: music.
